2006 Yearly Overview

Looking at the year in review, 2006 should be a rather interesting year overall. Transit Saturn starts out the year in the sign of Leo. We are now getting used to Saturn in Leo as it has been in that sign for the last year. There will be many of the same issues from last year that surface again at the beginning of this year. These will be about forming restrictions, rules and structure in a desire for personal glory, recognition and adulation. Saturn in Leo gives the reinforces the drive to scale the heights of success. Saturn in this sign leans towards the love of personal power, where ambitions are magnified and the concentration is on the goal ahead with deliberate focus. Since Saturn rules those in authority and Governments as well as heads of state, you could see these folks making it their sole responsibility to dictate the actions of others according to what they believe is the greatest good. Such an approach can appear heavy handed and domineering to others, causing conflict and resentment.

The sign of Leo is a fixed sign and the drive to exercise control can become too inflexible, in fact Saturn in any fixed sign can be uncompromisingly rigid and absolute. Here is an instance of absolute power governing absolutely, so we can probably expect another rise to the cold war scenario that we thought was previously finished which could build up until Saturn leaves Leo in 2007.

There area a couple of things to watch for this year. The first is Jupiter squaring Neptune. In fact the planet Neptune is the focus of much energy this year.

Think of Jupiter as the planet of expansion, if there is too much of something, Jupiter is bound to be involved. Saturn on the other hand is the planet of restrictions or too little. Life in general is a balance of both of these planets working together.

Jupiter is in the sign of Scorpio causing the expansion and ultimate revelation of secrets, (due to the fact that there is just too much secret information being collected) research, natural resources underground, resources from alternate sources, waste and dirty water sources, underground crime, power and disasters (all ruled by Scorpio). It is squaring Neptune in Aquarius which is the focus planet for this year. Neptune rules illusion and deceit, drugs, alcohol, the blood stream, illumination, inspiration and dreams. Now Neptune is in the sign of Aquarius which points towards the direction of humanitarian issues, eccentricity, unusual friends, electricity and the air (airplanes are ruled by Aquarius).

Both of these planets in conflict and give any number of scenarios like private information being collected on the masses being exposed, another natural disaster this year that involves the air (one that comes to mind is the Avian flue). In some cases Astrology is so literal that putting it all together seems like a simple puzzle. Jupiter (too much) in Scorpio ( dirty handling of waste and water) is in conflict with Neptune (drug resistance) in Aquarius (air born illness).

The dates that this conflict is felt the strongest this year is January 27, 2006, March 16, 2006 and September 24, 2006 EST.

Jupiter is also making a great angle with Uranus in Pisces this year on May 4, 2006 and August 29, 2006 EST. This is a great angle that allows the scenario of too much but in a good way. Uranus rules sudden unusual events, exciting ideas, that Eureka! moment in time. With this great angle there may be some sudden new invention/idea in water purification, boating, locomotion (feet are ruled by Pisces). This may have all come out of a lot of research (Scorpio) that has been done previously.

Jupiter squares Saturn June 22, 2006 and October 25, 2006 EST. Again this is a conflict angle that pits too much against too little. In this case Saturn in Leo represents as said above Governments, leaders, structure and those in authority. They may not be able to control the excesses that come to light around this time. They may also vie for recognition of being the best (Leo), while in reality there is too much hidden waste and crime beneath the surface (Scorpio). This may come to light in many Governments that have an emphasis of Leo and Scorpio in their Countries charts.

Saturn opposes Neptune August 31, 2006 EST. Again Neptune is in the spotlight, but in this case rather than having a conflict with too much, as was seen with Jupiter, this is all about restrictions and blockages. A balance needs to be found now between these two energies. Usually Saturn which represents those in authority, will come in heavy handed trying to put a stop to all events that cause disruption here. Unfortunately by stopping all the issues this will cause some things to become scarce in return. What is needed is to find the balance between restrictions and structure to reduce what has occurred and allowing the flow of ideas (although they may be different, even eccentric). This balance is the difficult part.

Jupiter enters the sign of Sagittarius November 23, 2006 EST. Jupiter is very strong in this sign and indicates freedom of speech, religion, and tolerance of others. Hopefully this will open a new door for all to try to understand others who have a different point of view. Although with Jupiter and it’s idea of too much there may be some zealots who come forward around this time spouting off their view is the only one. The main energy of Jupiter is about tolerence and acceptance of alternate points of views. Try to be open this year. Enjoy!

Hope you all have a wonderful 2006.
