Horary Astrology Lecture Series:

Part 1:

Horary astrology is the branch of astrology that answers peoples questions. You can usually answer questions based on "where, will, or if" with Horary astrology.

The Horary chart represents the"birth" of a question and if the question is of importance to the person asking, then the answer is always in the chart.

These charts are based on the idea of synchronicity, the idea of acausal connecting principle.......this is a principle of a connection that we can't see, measure or feel, but that is always in operation around us.

I hope you have fun with this subject, I find so fascinating.

Part 2:

One of the hardest things when dealing with Horary Astrology is to decide what house (area) of the chart will rule the question that you have.

I have on this web site a listing of the houses and what they rule in your life.

http://www.astrologicalpredictions.ca/index.php?param=/info/house_definitions.htm

Using these definitions you should be able to decide which house will rule any people that your question involves as well as the situation that you are questioning.

You will also have to understand what in your life each planet represents and this information is also posted on this web site at:

http://www.astrologicalpredictions.ca/index.php?param=/info/planetary_definitions.htm

The planets will not only represent the rulers of the question but also, how those rulers will interact with others, who they will meet, who will help and how.

The sign or energy of the planet will tell how strong each ruler is, retrograde planets are delayed or if representing a person or item of value these things will return but may be in a damaged state........

See how some of this energy plays out in the charts you are using for Horary readings.

Part 3:

Translation of Light in Horary Astrology:

Using translation of light can do one of two things.....first in the area of separating aspects it can restore the action of the aspect in question, where usually a separating aspect indicates that the action is over or has already occurred, using translation of light can indicate that something or someone interceded on behalf of the planets in question allowing them a second chance to see the matter to completion.

Secondly this can be used in the area of difficult aspects where something or someone can intercede before the difficult aspect can become exact, so this means that someone may come to the rescue in the nick of time.......

Translation by definition means that there is a faster moving planet in the chart than both the significators of the question, which can carry the light from one significator to the other and either reactivate a previous past aspect, or intervene in an applying difficult aspect.

Usually the planet is the Moon or Mercury, the two fastest moving planets in the chart.

Part 4:

Being Besieged

When this term is used in Horary Astrology, it generally means that the ruler of the area in question is caught between two negative planets (forces).

In history generally the negative planets were Mars and Saturn. In modern times, Astrologers also include Uranus, Neptune and Pluto among the negative planets. What happens here is that the energy from the planet in question is trapped between the two negative planets and no matter what direction (aspect) the ruling planet turns it receives a negative impact from one or the other of the two outer malefic planets.

On the other hand a ruling planet could also be besieged in a positive way. If caught between two positive planets, the ruler will receive favors and benefits no matter what direction it turns, this is a win, win situation for sure.

Part 5:

Retrograde motion in Horary Astrology

Retrograde motion is the apparent backward motion of a planet. In Horary Astrology this motion indicates returning or going back to a previous condition. The area ruled by the retrograde planet could change it’s mind, or a key person involved in the situation may cause the person to return.

With the issue of retrograde motion, an item may be in a damaged state, may return to something or to someone. If the answer to the question asked is positive and the ruler of the question is retrograde, then if the objective is gained it may well fall short of your expectations and you should reconsider moving forward with the matter.

Retrograde Saturn in the 1st house of the question may signify a negative outcome or less favorable outcome than expected. A retrograde 7th house ruler may mean that the Astrologer can’t deliver the outcome, or that if this is a relationship question, that the person can’t commit at this time.

Mercury Retrograde will affect the outcome of the question asked. Usually the person asking the question will change their mind or what looked good during the retrograde period will have a serious flaw once Mercury goes direct. In a lot of cases, Mercury will give a negative outcome to the question asked.

Part 6:

Degrees Rising in Horary Astrology

Generally in Horary Astrology, a sign that is less than three degrees rising on the Ascendant means that the question can't be answered with certainty. The situation is just starting to evolve, and has not progressed to the point where an answer to the question is available.

When the sign on the Ascendant is more than 27 degrees, the question in this case has been decided before the question was asked. It is obsolete and the situation has gone on too far for the person asking the question to make any changes.

In some cases these rules can be used, one instance is when the person asking the question has a Natal planet at the same degree as the Ascendant.

Another instance is if the question is the beginning of something and the Ascendant is at an early degree.

Part 7:

Special significance of the Moon:

The Moon has a special significance in horary as an indicator of the general or trivial conditions that surround the question. The Moon also serves as a secondary significator of the querent and of the question when the primary significators fail to answer the question adequately.

Some Astrologers 'Sue Ward' considers the Moon to be a general significator in all questions, saying that the Moon usually shows the events and activities relating to the matter, and thus can be used to show timing.

I have to agree with her, and have found the same in the charts that I have studied.

Due to the Moon's rapid motion many horary astrologers assign the Moon to all changes and activities in the chart. All the aspects that the Moon makes before leaving its sign will show the general outcome of a question of event that was begun when the Moon entered that sign. The most recent aspects to the Moon show what has just occurred, the next aspects show what will occur.............as the Moon moves and contacts each planet in the chart the events will unfold....like clockwork.

Part 8:

Peregrine Planets:

When a planet has no essential dignity it is called peregrine. A planet has dignity when it occupies a region/sign/house that it rules or where it is exalted. Perigrine comes from a term that means beyond the borders of the field, where the field is home territory where it is strong and feels safe. So a Perigrine planet is one that is outside this safe zone, where it wanders aimlessly and is not at home in any way.
